Lift Access and Experiences at ErlebnisBocksBerg
The Zipline Adventure Bocksberg is located directly on the summit of ErlebnisBocksBerg in Hahnenklee and can be reached by cable car or chairlift.
There are also specific activities at ErlebnisBocksBerg away from the zipline. The climbing park at Zipline Adventure Bocksberg is 100 metres long and includes seven climbing elements. Two summer toboggan runs are also available for summer days: the “Drachenblitz” summer toboggan run is 560 metres long, passes through a dragon’s cave and has five spirals. The “BocksBergBob” summer toboggan run is 1,250 metres long and features a double spiral. The different lengths and route characteristics help you organise your excursion plans according to the type of experience you want.
Hiking Trails Directly from Hahnenklee
Numerous circular and point-to-point hikes begin directly in Hahnenklee. Circular trails lead back to the starting point, while point-to-point hikes follow a different route.
The Liebesbankweg is an approximately 7-kilometre circular hiking trail around Hahnenklee-Bockswiese. It was the first certified premium hiking trail in the Harz and in Lower Saxony. Along the trail, there are 25 handcrafted benches and numerous works of art. The route also includes the Auerhahn Cascade, considered the largest pond cascade in the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Upper Harz Water Management”. This means the trail combines nature, designed places to pause and a specific connection to the cultural and technological history of the Upper Harz.
The “Mensch & Wald” hiking trail creates another thematic connection. It links Hahnenklee with Goslar and conveys the history of long-forgotten occupations that were practised in the forest. If you would like to incorporate not only the landscape but also regional history into a hike, this trail has a different focus from the Liebesbankweg.
Culture Between the Church, Kurhaus and Local History
The Hahnenklee stave church is a distinct cultural highlight of the town. It was built between 1907 and 1908 over a ten-month construction period, modelled on older Norwegian stave churches. Spruce wood from the surrounding area was used as the building material. The church has 240 seats and includes a carillon with 49 bells. Regular organ and carillon performances are also part of its musical programme.
From May to October, concerts featuring organ music, chamber music and the large tower bells take place there on Thursdays.
Since 22 May 2016, the Hahnenklee Local History Museum has been located in the Kurhaus. It displays historical exhibits on the history of Hahnenklee-Bockswiese and Upper Harz mining.
Climatic Health Resort and Terrain Therapy Trails
Hahnenklee has been a climatic health resort with a health-promoting climate for more than 130 years. The town has five designated terrain therapy hiking trails. These trails expand the options for visitors who do not want to spend their time exclusively on the mountain or on longer hiking routes. Together with the circular and point-to-point hikes that begin directly in the town, they create a broad range of options for active days with different focuses.
