Somplar is home to the Protestant parish church at Am Homberg 3. Its foundation stone was laid in 1950, and it was completed and consecrated in 1952. It was designed by the architect Bolte from Kassel; the interior design was carried out by the local painter Degenhardt.

Culture and history
The church was built as a simple hall church and has five segmental-arched window bays, corner details made of greywacke, and a distinctive west tower constructed entirely of greywacke. It forms part of the historic ensemble of the village center and, for historical reasons, is listed as a cultural monument in the Hessian register of historic monuments.
The historic town hall in nearby Bromskirchen was built between 1619 and 1621. It is decorated with ornamental wood carvings by master carpenter Daniel Dornseif from Somplar.
