Mieders is located in the front part of the Stubai Valley at the foot of Serles. The chapel on Kalvarienberg stands on a hill in the middle of Mieders village centre. The present Kalvarienberg Chapel was built in 1843 on the foundations of a structure dating from the 13th century.

Kalvarienberg also has religious and commemorative significance. Every year on All Souls’ Sunday, a memorial procession starting at the church takes place up to Kalvarienberg. Since 2018, its eastern side has been home to a memorial site for all star children. The cemetery chapel next to the Parish Church of the Nativity of Mary dates from 1358. The Parish Church of the Nativity of Mary is considered the oldest church in the Stubai Valley. In addition, the Rosary Chapels in Mieders and the Marian Fountain are protected as historic monuments by decree.
