Lofer in Salzburg state offers travelers several specific destinations beyond simply comparing hotels: trails in Almenwelt, the gorge along the Saalach, a swimming pool and historic sites in the center. If you are looking for accommodation for a ski holiday, check the winter sports you want to enjoy and the actual access to them separately with the operator. The local destinations listed here are particularly helpful when choosing a stay with nature and family activities; they do not indicate whether slopes or lifts are open or what the snow conditions are.

Almenwelt and trails near Lofer

Almenwelt Lofer is described as having seven circular hiking trails and four panoramic summits. The Waterfall Trail leading there is about 3.1 kilometers long. These distinctions are useful for planning: a specifically named route is different from a choice of several circular trails or summit destinations. Before setting out on a hike, check current access, trail conditions and which route is suitable for your group. The number of trails does not indicate a particular walking time or suitability for strollers.

The Triftsteig runs downstream along Teufelsschlucht gorge as far as the village district of Au. Information boards explain the history of timber rafting on the Saalach. The trail therefore combines scenery with a former method of transporting timber. The gorge also attracts kayakers and canoeists today; however, their water activity is no proof that visitors without experience can paddle there themselves. Observing, hiking and water sports each require different conditions.

Swimming and local history

Steinbergbad Lofer includes a large swimming pool, a waterslide, a baby pool and a natural pool. A natural stream runs through the swimming complex and, according to the available description, can be explored using inflatable rings or mats. If you are traveling with children, you can take this destination into account when choosing accommodation, but check the season, opening times and specific rules for use. These facilities belong to the swimming complex and are not automatically included at the hotel you book.

Lofer parish church is a Gothic building with Baroque additions and a north tower, for which the years 1315 to 1338 are given. The church was first mentioned in a document in 1417, and its side-aisle additions date from 1678. These dates describe different stages of construction and documentation. The chapel on Kalvarienberg is another specific place; from there, you can enjoy a view across the Lofer Basin. Check interior access and opening times in advance.

Choosing suitable accommodation

For a trip that includes hiking, the trailheads for the Waterfall Trail or Triftsteig are relevant; for a visit to the swimming complex, its location relative to Steinbergbad matters. A winter sports stay also requires current, separately verified information about the ski area, lift operations and travel there. Compare offers by exact address and verified services. The regional page on Pinzgau locates Lofer geographically, but does not replace a piste map or a check of the specific hotel.
