Königsleiten: Cable Car, Winter Trail and Alpine Village

Königsleiten connects the village location at 1,600 m above sea level with a gondola lift to the mountain station at 2,200 m. Those looking for accommodation for a ski or winter holiday will also find a 7.13 km-long winter trail, paths in the mountain area and several distinct destinations within the village.

Cable Car and Mountain World

Königsleiten is located on the Salzburg side of the Zillertal Arena. The Dorfbahn Königsleiten gondola lift leads directly to the mountain station at 2,200 m above sea level. At the top, guests can expect numerous hiking trails, idyllic mountain huts and views of the Zillertal Alps and the Hohe Tauern. This clear distinction is important when planning your day: the village location is at 1,600 m, while the mountain station forms a separate destination at 2,200 m. The hiking trails, mountain huts and viewpoints therefore belong to the mountain area and not to the village location.

The mountain station is 600 m above the village location. The GipfelLiner Königsleiten runs at 2,300 m above sea level over the reservoir and is therefore 100 m above the mountain station and 700 m above the village location. The Königsleiten Gipfelwelt is located at the mountain station of the Dorfbahn at Kröndlwurmsee. The Jodelwanderweg also starts at the mountain station and leads to the Königsleiten holiday village.

Village Character and Location

Königsleiten is an Alpine village with many small chalets at 1,600 m. The Königsleiten Almdorf is located directly on the Tyrol state border and therefore on the Hohe Tauern Bike Trail. Königsleiten also borders the Hohe Tauern National Park.

Winter Trail and Other Paths

The Königsleiten–Finkau Winter Trail is a 7.13 km-long winter hiking trail from Königsleiten to the Finkau inn.

The Königsleiten Jodelwanderweg leads from the mountain station of the Dorfbahn Königsleiten to the Königsleiten holiday village. The winter trail, by contrast, runs from Königsleiten to the inn. The two paths therefore differ in their starting points: one starts in the village, the other at the mountain station. The Kröndlwurm wooden-ball course is a wooden-ball course with numerous stations and complements the paths with a destination consisting of several individual stations.

Village Church and Year-Round Destinations

The Christ the King Chapel is the village church of Königsleiten. It was built in 1989 on a slight hill in the centre of the village. As a cultural site in the centre of the village, it differs from the Gipfelwelt at the mountain station and the described paths in the mountain area. The year of construction and its location on the hill are specific features of this village destination.

Another cycling tour from Königsleiten leads back via the Tauern Cycle Path to Wald. The Hohe Tauern Bike Trail runs by the Almdorf, directly on the Tyrol state border.

If you would like to compare other destinations in addition to Königsleiten, you can also find Rauris, Högmoos, Aufhausen, Leogang, Hintermoos, Wald Im Pinzgau, Aisdorf and Zell am See.
