Maria Saal: Architectural History and Roman Traces
Today’s Maria Saal Cathedral was built between 1430 and 1459. The Maria Saal parish church is designed as a late Gothic stepped hall with a distinctive, highly visible twin-tower façade. During the day, the cathedral is open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for prayer or silent adoration.
The Roman city on Magdalensberg is one of the largest archaeological excavation sites in the Eastern Alps. In Karnburg, the parish church of St. Peter and Paul features several Roman spolia as well as an oath hand.

Keutschach Lake Valley: Lake, Moorland and Flat Trails
Lake Keutschach is located in the Keutschach Lake Valley in the Klagenfurt-Land district. SUP courses for beginners and advanced participants are offered on the tranquil, sheltered lake.
The Keutschach Lake Valley Natura Trail is ten kilometres long, very flat and leads through a landscape influenced by the Drau Glacier. If you plan for these ten kilometres, you can take the very flat profile into account as a fixed parameter of the hike. The route length and terrain profile therefore provide two concrete figures for planning the timing of the circuit yourself.
The Keutschach circular hiking trail also passes through the Moorau, a Ramsar site.
Pyramidenkogel and Tscheppa Gorge
Pyramidenkogel is the world’s tallest wooden observation tower. You can reach observation levels up to 71 metres high by panoramic lift or via 441 steps. For personal ascent planning, you can therefore choose between the panoramic lift and the route via 441 steps.
Pyramidenkogel features a 120-metre-long covered adventure slide, described as the highest in Europe.
The highlights of the hiking tour through Tscheppa Gorge are Tschauko Waterfall with its rock gate and the Devil’s Bridge.
Tscheppa Gorge Forest Ropes Park includes eight courses with varying levels of difficulty. In addition, there are two Flying Fox zip lines, each 300 metres long, described as Austria’s longest Flying Fox facility.
