The Iberian System and Teruel: Javalambre and Valdelinares

The two ski resorts are located in different mountain ranges of the Iberian System (Sistema Ibérico in Spanish). Javalambre lies on the slopes of the Sierra de Javalambre in the east, while Valdelinares is farther north, in the Sierra de Gúdar. There is no piste connecting the resorts: visitors who want to ski at both during their holiday should plan separate ski days and choose the appropriate starting point for each.

The elevations also refer to different locations. The village of Valdelinares sits at around 1,690 m and is about 7 km from the resort, so its elevation is not the elevation at the foot of the pistes. Mountain pine forests shape the landscape around Valdelinares.

The mix of difficulty levels makes the differences clear: Javalambre has 13 pistes, eight marked blue, four green and one red. Valdelinares has six green, four blue and four red runs.

Javalambre features specially designed beginner slopes and freestyle pistes. These add two distinct options to its predominantly blue-rated mix: first turns and more challenging freestyle sessions. Both resorts also offer a ski school, equipment hire and a sledding area with a conveyor belt. Families can combine lessons and their own runs with a break for sledding.
