Location and access are particularly important when choosing one: Poiana Brașov is closely connected to the city of Brașov, while Sinaia links its ski areas to higher mountain stations by gondola and cable car. Your choice also depends on how the town, accommodation and lift access fit together.

Poiana Brașov: a mountain resort connected to Brașov

Poiana Brașov is located on the Postăvarul Massif and is connected to Brașov by road and bus. RATBV links Livada Postei, near the historic centre, with Poiana Brașov; the stop in the ski resort is called Parcarea Mare.

In Poiana Brașov, drag lifts and chairlifts provide access to the slopes on Postăvarul. Depending on how close you want to be to the lifts, you can choose accommodation in the ski resort or in Brașov.

Sinaia: access to higher-altitude ski areas

In Sinaia, a gondola and cable car take you from the town to higher-altitude areas. The operator, Transport Urban Sinaia, runs several lift sections, including the connection between Cota 1400 and Cota 2000, as well as other chairlifts and drag lifts. Accommodation and the ski area are not necessarily right next to each other.

In Sinaia, you should therefore choose your accommodation based on the access you want: stay in the town centre and make your way to the lift station, or stay as close as possible to the connection that suits you. Weigh the town’s evening amenities against having a short journey to the snow.

Romania has regional ski areas rather than one single, continuous ski region. Poiana Brașov combines a mountain resort with a city, while Sinaia provides access to the slopes via its lifts.
