Ramzová
Ramzová is a small mountain settlement and ski base in the Jeseníky range, where the valley station links uphill access with runs on the way toward Čerňava and Šerák. It can suit visitors who want a day of lift-served skiing or a wider mountain stay, but its terrain and services should be matched to the actual group. The operator lists seven downhill routes, including a gentle meadow run for beginners; its longest descent, from Šerák to Ramzová, is 3,260 metres with about 550 metres of vertical drop. These are route descriptions, not a guarantee that every run is open on your date.
How the ski area is arranged
The lift system is built around two chairlift sections: a four-seat lift from Ramzová to Čerňava and a two-seat lift onward to Šerák, with surface lifts serving additional slopes. The sections offer different ways to plan a day, so check the current status of each rather than treating them as one continuously operating ride. The operator’s slope list includes the Šerák–Ramzová descent, several routes around Čerňava and the short Ramzová–Louka area. Compare the route length and gradient with your ability, and ask locally whether the lower return is suitable for the least experienced skier in your group.
Families can make the day easier by identifying the ski-school meeting point, beginner terrain, equipment rental and a warm place to regroup before buying tickets. Ask about lesson language, age group, booking and the exact lift or slope used for teaching. A child who is confident on a short practice area may still need a simpler route back after a longer session. For mixed-ability groups, agree on a rendezvous and check-in time, and keep a route alternative in case a lift stops or visibility deteriorates.
Check operations, tickets and equipment
Use the operator’s live information and webcams close to your visit. At the time of this review, the official status page’s last report was dated 20 July 2026 and showed the ski area out of operation with no snow; that summer snapshot does not establish when winter operation will begin. The operator describes winter lift hours as usually around 08:30 to 16:00, but season dates, individual lifts and closing times can change. Check the current lift status, snow, forecast, access and any maintenance notice rather than planning from an old timetable.
Before paying, compare ticket validity, age categories, discounts, online conditions and whether the product covers the lifts you intend to use. Do not assume a combined pass, night operation or a particular route is available unless the current offer says so. If renting, confirm reservation, fitting, collection and return, deposit and closure or cancellation rules. Dress for a mountain day with layers, gloves, eye protection and a helmet; keep water and a charged phone accessible.
The official BONERA Ramzová website publishes lift and slope details, webcams, current status and practical information. It also notes that Ramzová’s railway stop is a short walk from the lower lift station and describes access by train, bus and car. Check the live timetable and parking arrangements for your travel date; do not infer that the same connections or facilities operate at every hour or in every season.
Stay in the valley or explore the ridge
When choosing accommodation, compare the exact address with the lift station, railway stop and your preferred evening facilities. Ask about winter road access, parking, breakfast, luggage and ski storage, and a place to dry clothing. Staying close to the lower station can reduce morning transfers, while a base elsewhere in the valley may offer different food or lodging choices. If you plan a summer walk as well, ask which chairlift section operates for hikers and confirm its date-specific hours; a lift described as useful for summer excursions is not necessarily open on your chosen day.
Ramzová is also a starting point for mountain walks, but winter hiking requires a separate plan from downhill skiing. Weather can change quickly along exposed ridges. Check trail conditions, daylight, footwear and the current status of any lift you hope to use. Keep to marked routes, tell someone your plan and turn back if wind, ice or visibility makes the route unsafe. Ski-area maps do not replace hiking maps or winter trail advice.
Compare areas for a longer Czech trip
For regional context, read the Jeseníky and Králický Sněžník guide and the broader Czech Republic ski-area overview. They help distinguish Ramzová from other places in the wider mountain region and avoid assuming that one ticket or lift network joins separate resorts. Our cross-country skiing guide and winter sports overview are useful if your group wants alternatives when downhill conditions are poor.
If you are assembling a multi-stop road itinerary, compare Ramzová with the separate Krkonoše, Ore Mountains, Jizera Mountains and Ještěd, Šumava and Moravian-Silesian Beskids. These are distinct regions rather than nearby sectors of Ramzová. Estimate drive times, check road conditions and leave space for an overnight stop instead of trying to fit too many areas into a single day.
A useful pre-departure checklist
Confirm the current lift and slope status, ticket terms, ski-school or rental booking, weather, road access, parking and public-transport times. Save the lodging address and a meeting point offline. If an operational change affects your plan, choose a shorter route or another activity instead of assuming yesterday’s report still applies. With those checks done, you can decide whether Ramzová is right for your group because of its long Šerák descent, its gentler practice terrain, or its combination of skiing and mountain walking.
