Ski opening in the Altaussee / Loser ski area
Over 150 cm of fresh snow have made it possible: the ski lifts in the Altaussee/Loser ski area are opening earlier than expected in 2014. From Saturday, 20 October, the Loserfensterbahn, a four-seater chairlift to the new “Schafkirche” run on the Loser Plateau, will already be operating.
Early season opening
The Loser family ski resort in Styria’s Salzkammergut can look forward to an early start to the 2014 season. 150 centimetres of fresh snow have made it possible to open at the end of October. The “Loser Alm” ski restaurant, run by Franz Loitzl, Stephan Pilzer and their team, is also already open. The restaurant on the Loser Alm, with its magnificent panoramic views from the large sun terrace, is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. Guests can also stop at the Loserhütte at 1,540 m or the AlpenStub’n Losermaut at 850 m. The hotels in Altaussee are also ready for the early start to the season.
Der 4er Sessellift am Loser Plateau wird ab 25.Oktober 2014 in Betrieb genommen.

“The heavy, early onset of winter in the Ausseerland, with around 150 centimetres of fresh snow, means that for the first time in the history of Loser Bergbahnen, skiing can begin in October,” says Loser Bergbahnen managing director Peter Donabauer in a press release. “Our team is currently working around the clock on the snow-covered Loser Plateau, with eight piste workers and two snow groomers, to ensure perfect skiing conditions this weekend. And the weather is expected to be ideal.”
Access to the open ski runs is via the Loser Panorama Road, where winter tyres are compulsory.
