Swiss holiday resorts generously offer free cards

Okay, skiing in Switzerland isn’t an option right now—but visitors can still enjoy the snow in the Swiss mountains if they take advantage of the offers from many Swiss holiday and ski resorts, which let them use the mountain railways for free. This is the way up to the peaks of the Swiss Alps, where the air is clear and the views are fantastic.

More and more Swiss holiday resorts are offering their guests a free regional card from their very first overnight stay. It gives them free admission to entertainment programmes, complimentary use of the outdoor swimming pool, and the chance to ride the mountain railway without buying a ticket.

Arosa and Samnaun in Graubünden were pioneers of the free “all-inclusive guest cards.” Now other holiday resorts in Graubünden are offering this attractive package too. Here, the card is called the SurselvaCard. It allows visitors from near and far to use the four mountain railways around Brigels free of charge; these also operate in summer. Guided hikes and mountain tours, excursions, mountain-bike trips and children’s programmes are also free. There is no charge for admission to the bathing lakes, the outdoor swimming pool or the Museum Regiunal Surselva either.

The “Davos Klosters Inclusive Card” is also very useful. It lets you use the mountain railways operating in the beautiful Swiss resorts of Davos and Klosters, as well as the bus network, free of charge. You can also travel along the famous Rhaetian Railway route between Klosters Dorf and Filisur.

The Savognin holiday region also offers a card for stays of one night or more. Children can play at the Pinocchio Club, the mountain railways are free, and on five days of the week, shuttle buses take guests to beautiful, out-of-the-way places. The postbus can also be used free of charge throughout the valley.

In the Appenzell region, guests must book three nights to qualify for the free card, which includes 18 complimentary offers. These include the aerial cableway and the natural moor bath.
