Activity and adventure in Tux-Finkenberg

The Tux-Finkenberg ski region is one of Austria’s most popular destinations for winter sports enthusiasts. Its 245 kilometres of groomed ski runs, more than 70 cable cars and lifts, and 30 mountain huts, restaurants and places to relax attract tens of thousands of keen skiers every year. In summer, the Tux-Finkenberg ski area reveals another, equally appealing side—as a paradise for adventure sports enthusiasts. With the new Zillertal Activcard, visitors and holidaymakers can enjoy the wide range of activities at reduced prices.

Anyone looking for an exhilarating sporting challenge in the mountains this summer will find just what they’re looking for in Tux-Finkenberg, in Austria’s Tyrol region. Here, on the edge of the Zillertal valley, you can enjoy action and outdoor activities in the green valley as well as high up among the eternal ice of the Hintertux Glacier. This summer, climbing is the sport to try. The holiday region offers routes for beginners and experienced climbers in the Spannagel and Penken climbing areas. At the Spannagel via ferrata, holidaymakers can put their skills to the test in a climbing garden. Routes range in difficulty from grade two to grade seven. The Penken climbing area, by contrast, is ideal for beginners who would like to get their first taste of climbing under expert guidance.

Those who enjoy soaring above it all can take off on a paraglider in the Tux-Finkenberg ski region during the summer months and experience the valley from high above. Launch sites are located at Eggalm, Penken, Sommerbergalm and the Hintertux Glacier. Tandem flights with an experienced pilot are also available.

Tux-Finkenberg also has plenty to offer the bold and adventurous. Canyoning takes you through the Zemmschlucht gorge and its raging mountain streams; you can also go rafting on the Ziller. Climb through narrow passages, abseil down beside icy torrents, tackle steep rock faces or climb waterfalls—anyone seeking adventure will find it in Tux-Finkenberg.

The new Zillertal Activcard helps make all the fun more affordable. It includes one uphill and downhill trip each day on one of twelve cable cars, as well as free admission to the six outdoor swimming pools in the Zillertal, the observatory and the planetarium. The Zillertal Activcard can also be used on numerous local public transport routes.
