Summer skiing at the Schnalstal Glacier 2011
The Schnal Valley is once again hosting its SummerCamp, with snowboarding, skiing, freeriding and plenty of other activities in the fun park. Summer skiing in South Tyrol—that’s what the Gentlemenriders SummerCamp offers from 11 June to 24 July 2011. The SummerCamp is open to everyone who wants to enjoy pure skiing pleasure in South Tyrol’s only summer ski area. The best part is that the facilities and opportunities for skiing and snowboarding in summer can be enjoyed free of charge. In partnership with F-Tech Construction, the Gentlemenriders SummerCamp has been offering the chance to experience summer skiing in South Tyrol since 2006. The camp is located at the Schnalstal Glacier.

The Schnalstal Glacier lies in western South Tyrol and is known for its magnificent panoramas and clear mountain air. The region around the Schnalstal Glacier is proud not only to be a summer ski area in Italy, but also to offer hikes through South Tyrol and wellness facilities. The glacier itself is reached by cable car and lies at an altitude of around 3,200 metres. In both summer and winter, skiers in South Tyrol can enjoy exceptionally wide pistes, runs of every difficulty level, and a long, challenging descent of around 8 km. The Schnalstal Glacier is considered snow-reliable all year round. Nevertheless, the Gentlemenriders SummerCamp wisely offers alternatives, including archery, fishing, barbecues and climbing, as well as parties and outstanding events. South Tyrol is currently reporting excellent piste conditions, with pleasant temperatures and plenty of sunshine. The Gentlemenriders SummerCamp could hardly wish for a better start. The lift facilities and hotels around the Schnalstal Glacier offer special deals, which should be checked individually. These might include an attractive morning skiing experience, or unrestrained fun at the snowboard and freeski camp, followed by brilliant and varied afternoon activities away from the snow and ice.
Incidentally, the legendary “Ötzi” was found at the Schnalstal Glacier.
