Volksbiathlon Hochfilzen 2011
Hochfilzen in Pillerseetal is Austria’s biathlon stronghold. Top athletes such as Dominik Landertinger (Landi), gold medallist in the mass start at the 2009 Biathlon World Championships, live and train here. Hochfilzen’s biathlon stadium now also offers ideal training conditions for amateur biathletes: from 25 to 27 March 2011, under the patronage of Mayor Dr Sebastian Eder, Uschi Disl and Ludwig Gredler, it will host the second Volksbiathlon, open to everyone.
From Friday, 25 March 2011, amateur athletes can start their biathlon training on the World Championships course in Hochfilzen. Free training for the second Volksbiathlon will be available at the Hochfilzen biathlon stadium from 1 to 4 pm, under the guidance of experienced biathlon coaches from Pillerseetal. Participants will shoot prone from a distance of 50 metres. Free training is also available to children and school pupils. Unlike professional biathletes, participants in the Volksbiathlon do not ski with a small-bore rifle on their backs. The rifle stays at the shooting range, where one will be ready for each participant.
Auch junge Hobbybiathlethen: Kinder und Jugendliche können am Fun & Action Race teilnehmen.
