Ski World Championships 2011 in Oslo
The peak season in international skiing is in full swing: the Four Hills Tournament and the World Cup—week after week, one highlight follows another. One of the absolute top events of this year's ski season will be the Ski World Championships, taking place in Oslo from 23 February to 6 March 2011.
Oslo: Host of the Ski World Championships for the third time
The host city of Oslo already has experience staging the Ski World Championships. In 2011, the event will be held in the Norwegian city for the third time, following editions in 1930, 1966 and 1982. The famous Holmenkollen will naturally be the focus of attention at the 2011 Ski World Championships. The renowned ski arena has been one of the sport's strongholds since the 1952 Winter Olympics.

The Holmenkollen ski jumping hill
The Holmenkollen ski jumping hill was modernised and extensively redeveloped for the 2011 Ski World Championships. With its new design, the hill now meets the most modern standards and can satisfy all the international requirements for a modern ski jumping venue. Care was taken to preserve the original character of the legendary Holmenkollen hill. The hill underwent an intensive inspection in the spring of last year and is now ready for the competitors at the 2011 Ski World Championships in Oslo.
A total of 21 events will be held as part of the 2011 Ski World Championships in Oslo, across the disciplines of cross-country skiing, Nordic combined and ski jumping. In addition to the Holmenkollen ski venue, the individual events will take place at the Midtstubakken hill and the cross-country skiing stadium. The medal ceremonies at the 2011 Ski World Championships will be held in central Oslo.
