Four Hills Tournament 2011 in Innsbruck
The highlight of ski jumping remains the Four Hills Tournament. The only victory more coveted and important than winning the overall World Cup is a win at one of the four events held as part of the Four Hills Tournament—setting aside a victory at the Winter Olympics. As it does every year, the Tour will return to Innsbruck, Austria, in 2011.
Unfortunately, we can’t expect any particularly impressive performances from the “German Eagles” this year either. Other athletes are favourites to win the Four Hills Tournament event in Innsbruck in 2011, such as Switzerland’s Simon Ammann and the strong ski jumpers from Austria. And the ski flyers from our neighbouring country will be especially motivated for their “home event”, as they have a chance to make history: in 2011, they can equal a record. So far, only Norway, with the exceptional jumper Wirkola, has managed to win the Four Hills Tournament three times in a row for one nation. Austria now has the chance to equal Wirkola’s record this season, having won the Four Hills Tournament in each of the last two years with Andreas Kofler (2009/2010) and Wolfgang Loitzl (2008/2009).

Date: 30/09/2026
When the Four Hills Tournament returns to Oberstdorf after the events there and in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Upper Bavaria, and then makes its next stop in Innsbruck in 2011, thousands of fans will once again fill the hill. Winning the event on home soil is naturally the top priority for the jumpers from the Alpine nation of Austria. But Simon Ammann, the two-time Olympic champion from Vancouver 2010, will surely have something to say about that: the Swiss jumper has yet to win the Four Hills Tournament.
