New cable cars in Sölden

Just in time for the 2010/2011 winter season, two of Austria’s most architecturally modern cable cars, equipped with the latest technology, will open on the Gaislachkogl in Sölden, Austria, a major winter sports destination, as the new “Gaislachkogl cable car” begins operating. The first construction work on the mountain station in the Ötztal began in summer 2009.

With the Gaislachkogl cable car, Sölden is setting new standards in operational safety, comfort and increased transport capacity. Alongside these functional aspects, the mountain lift company in Sölden also wanted to create an architectural highlight. Built to the latest standards, the Gaislachkogl cable car is also a real eye-catcher. The new cable cars in Sölden consist of three station buildings in total. During the 2010/2011 winter season, winter sports enthusiasts will be able to reach the boarding platform for the Gaislachkogl cable car by escalator or lift—a level of modern comfort that will set new standards for ski lifts and make your ski holiday relaxing.

Mid-station at an altitude of 2,174 metres

At the Gaislachkogl cable car’s mid-station in Sölden, in the Ötztal, at an altitude of 2,174 metres, the exit platform will be level with the roof of the current restaurant. A sloping ramp will make it easier for winter sports enthusiasts to get off here, so they won’t need to push themselves along with their ski poles but can glide down the ramp instead. Anyone wishing to go even higher during their ski holiday in Sölden can transfer to the next cable car, which goes all the way up to the summit.
