Munich steps up its bid for the 2018 Olympics
Bavaria’s state capital, Munich, now officially in the running with Garmisch-Partenkirchen as an “Applicant City” for the 2018 Olympics, is stepping up its bid by requiring hotels and holiday-home owners to be included in the planning for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
Option contract for the 2014 Olympics
Until April of this year, hotel and holiday-home owners in the Berchtesgadener Land, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and within a 50-kilometre radius of the state capital, Munich, had the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to the 2014 Olympics by countersigning a binding option contract—and to win attractive prizes and experiences in the process.

The second round of the competition is now getting underway: hotels and holiday-home owners who countersign the option contract by the end of June 2010 can also win attractive prizes, such as a drive in the MINI E, Munich 2018 glass carafes and other fan merchandise from the Munich 2018 collection.
Munich’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games
With this campaign, the committee for Munich’s bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games is thanking its hotel partners and holiday-home owners in the Upper Bavaria region. The campaign is already bearing fruit: more than 80 percent of the 23,300 accommodation rooms required by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for a bid to host the Olympic Games have already been secured.
The winners of the first prize draws have now been selected: the hotel “Zugspitze” in Garmisch-Partenkirchen won the first prize, a balloon ride for two in the “Munich 2018 Balloon,” while the second prize—a day’s free use of the bid committee’s MINI E—went to the “Drei Löwen” hotel in Munich. In addition, 20 other hotels and holiday-home owners were presented with glass carafes bearing the bid logo and other fan merchandise from the Munich 2018 collection by adidas.
