Winter holiday in Friuli Venezia Giulia
Although the ski areas in Friuli Venezia Giulia have reported no fresh snow for seven days, conditions for a ski holiday in the region remain optimal to excellent, with 40 cm in the valley and up to 320 cm in the mountains. At Sella Nevea, one of the region’s five ski areas, they even say that the snow cannons take a winter break until May.
The ski areas of Piancavallo, Ravascletto-Zoncolan, Forni di Sopra, Tarvisio and Sella Nevea make it possible to enjoy a winter holiday in Italy in Friuli Venezia Giulia, from the Slovenian border across the Julian Alps to the Dolomites. Even at Easter, they look like Christmas cribs painted into the landscape. Places such as Comeglians, Monte Prat di Fogaria, Ovaro, Sauris and Sutrio offer hotels and holiday apartments in the ski areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia. What makes accommodation for a winter holiday in Friuli Venezia Giulia special is its style. It is known as a “scattered hotel”, or in Italian, “Albergo diffuso”. This type of accommodation in Friuli Venezia Giulia combines a hotel, apartment building and holiday apartments. Accordingly, these “hotels” in Friuli Venezia Giulia offer a range of prices. All that remains is to choose the ski area in Friuli Venezia Giulia where you would like to look for a holiday apartment, for example. Forni di Sopra lies in the Friulian Dolomites and is guaranteed snow until spring. Here, the ski area is divided into Davost and Varmost. Including the Fantasy Snow Park, you can look forward to a mountainous experience ranging from easy slopes at 900 metres right up to the summit of Crusicalas at 2,073 metres. For a family holiday with kids’ parks, book in Piancavallo or the legendary Ravascletto-Zoncolan. The only differences between the two are Piancavallo’s additional fun park and snowboard facilities, and Ravascletto-Zoncolan’s competition venues, boardercross arena and freestyle park. As in Tarvisio, both ski areas offer every conceivable kind of winter sport you would expect from a winter holiday in Italy. Activities range from downhill skiing on red, blue and black runs to cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoe trekking and ice skating, as well as thrilling dog-sled rides, spectacular ice-wall climbing and wonderfully beautiful nights in self-built igloos.
Amid all the winter sports in Friuli Venezia Giulia, you can also escape the winter landscape for a while and explore the region’s culture, traditions and history, which stretches back to antiquity and Julius Caesar, or unwind and relax with wellness, spa and recuperation options.
In den Kidsparks lernen auch die Kleinsten unter den Kleinen sehr schnell das Ski fahren und garantieren einen super Winterurlaub in Friuli Venezia Giulia
