Italy and Slovenia join forces with a shared ski area
From now on, winter holidays in the eastern Alps mean there are no borders when it comes to skiing in Italy and enjoying winter sports in Slovenia—at least in Sella Novea and Bovec. Sella Novea in Italy, also known in German as Neveasattel, and Bovec in Slovenia are forming a shared, cross-border ski area in the Alps this winter. The two ski resorts, Sella Novea in Italy and Bovec in Slovenia, are being physically connected by a new cable car with two cabins, each holding 100 people. The cable car runs between the valley stations in Sella Novea and Bovec and the Golovec Pass, which lies in Slovenia at just over 2,500 metres above sea level.
Idyllische Seen und romantische Landschaften, hier SĂĽdtirol, sind in Italien und den Alpen keine Seltenheit

The summit of Kanin and the neighboring Alpine giants provide holiday apartments in Bovec and Sella Norea with a unique backdrop, making skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing twice as enjoyable. Besides these scenic attractions, winter sports enthusiasts in the eastern Alps between Italy and Slovenia will also benefit from a range of practical advantages. On the one hand, the shared ski area around Sella Novea and Bovec will offer 30 kilometers of slopes and extensive cross-country trails starting this winter; on the other, the previously separate ski passes will now be valid at both ski areas and on both cable cars.
Some international ski areas span the Alps, which extend across more or less the entire southern part of Central Europe, so borders in winter sports have been disappearing for several years. Italy and Slovenia are now following this established Alpine practice once again, as the example of the shared ski area in Sella Novea and Bovec shows.
