Canada: CTC publishes new ski guide

Canada will host the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, taking place in Vancouver in February 2010. Just two weeks later, Vancouver will also host the Paralympics, the Olympic Games for athletes with disabilities. Both events will not only put Canada in the global spotlight, but are also likely to bring a surge of tourists to winter sports destinations such as Québec, Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. For this reason, the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) has decided to publish a new, updated ski guide to Canada and its winter sports regions.

The informative and richly illustrated ski guide to Canada is currently available exclusively through the CTC, for example via the tourism organization’s website or its German branch near Frankfurt/Main (Eichenheege 1 – 5, 63477 Maintal). The free Canada ski travel guide contains all the essential information on ski schools, alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and other winter activities away from ski slopes and trails. These include winter sports such as heli-skiing, snowmobiling, dog sledding and snowshoeing, which are also very popular in Canada.

The tourist infrastructure and the condition of the slopes and trails in the winter sports regions of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Québec are exemplary not only for Canada, but for all of North America, including the USA. The hotels in Québec and the other Canadian ski resorts mentioned also receive top ratings. The 2009/10 winter season is already just around the corner in Canada, beginning well before the Vancouver Olympic Games, by far the most important sporting event of the winter worldwide.
