Obertauern invites you to the 2009 Gamsleiten Kriterium
The 2008/09 winter season in Obertauern, one of Austria’s most beautiful ski resorts, will once again come to a close this year with the Gamsleiten Kriterium, which has become a well-established tradition. It is probably Europe’s largest treasure hunt in the snow, with a total of 30 attractive, high-quality prizes up for grabs. The grand prize is a Porsche Boxster looking for a new owner. Regular entry to the Gamsleiten Kriterium costs 30 euros; treasure hunters staying in Obertauern, Untertauern or Tweng receive a 10-euro discount.
The Gamsleiten Kriterium in Obertauern (obertauern.com) gets underway on 24 April (Friday) at 8 p.m., when ticket sales begin. Tickets will be handed out in the Gamsleiten car park, accompanied by a performance by the Austrian band “My Excellence”. Around midnight, the organisers will bring the evening to a close with a colourful firework display lighting up the night sky over Obertauern.
After a hopefully restful night’s sleep, the treasure hunt begins on the slopes the following morning at 10:30 a.m. — without skis or snowboard, but with the hope of winning the grand prize: a brand-new Porsche Boxster. The meeting point is the bottom station of the Gamsleitenbahn II, where the treasure hunt will be launched. The 30 treasure chests will be hidden within a designated area and buried in the snow by the organisers the night or evening before.
