Skicircus Leogang-Saalbach-Hinterglemm

With around 200 kilometers of slopes, the Skicircus Leogang-Saalbach-Hinterglemm in the Salzburg region is not only one of Austria’s largest winter sports areas, but also one of the most varied ski resorts in the country. Leogang and Saalbach-Hinterglemm are especially popular with ski tourists from Germany, as they are relatively close to the Austrian-German border. While the name Saalbach-Hinterglemm is known worldwide in connection with skiing and winter, neighboring Leogang is still working on building its profile.

Yet the winter sports resort of Leogang has one or two advantages over Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Prices in Leogang are significantly lower for almost the same services, which inevitably means better value for money. Prices below 30 euros in the high season and below 25 euros in the low season are not uncommon in Leogang, but unthinkable in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. As far as skiing and snowboarding are concerned, Saalbach-Hinterglemm and Leogang are on a par, since they form one connected winter sports area with the same slopes.

Thanks to their close proximity, it is also easy to combine the advantages of both ski resorts. More and more winter holidaymakers are choosing accommodation in the more affordable Leogang, while spending their après-ski evenings in the livelier Saalbach-Hinterglemm. But Leogang also has a number of mountain huts and bars where the party really gets going in the evening; “Huwi’s Alm” is one example.
