Karwendel region invites visitors to ski in spring

The ski resorts around the Karwendel in Tyrol traditionally remain among Austria’s most popular winter sports regions even in early spring. To keep it that way, the Karwendel ski region is once again inviting winter sports enthusiasts to the Tux Prealps in Tyrol this spring. With the slopes considerably less crowded, visitors can expect much shorter waits at the lifts and more fun on the runs. What’s more, the days grow longer again from April, and sunscreen and sunglasses should also be part of the standard equipment for skiers and snowboarders in the Karwendel.

The Tux Alps are also among the most varied ski areas in Tyrol. Along with runs of every grade, winter sports enthusiasts from near and far can enjoy cross-country trails, snowshoe hikes, toboggan runs, or simply relax against a magnificent Alpine backdrop. The Tux Prealps also offer a range of activities away from the slopes. Nearby Schwatz draws winter sports enthusiasts with a choice of a visit to the planetarium or the world-famous silver mine. Tratzberg Castle, one of Europe’s most beautiful castles, lies just a stone’s throw from the ski slopes on the Karwendel.

Through March 27, children under 14 can take a free ski course in the Karwendel region of Tyrol. Equipment and lift passes are also free. Holders of the so-called SilberCard can enjoy a range of benefits in the Tux Prealps, such as snowshoe hikes, tobogganing, or guided tours of the adjacent wildlife park. The SilberCard is still available in April and is valid six days a week.
