FIS Slalom in Malbun (Liechtenstein)

On Sunday and the following Monday, two slalom competitions each for women and men will take place in the ski resort of Malbun, Liechtenstein. All four slaloms are races recognized by the International Ski Federation, which is why they may be called FIS slaloms. The organizers expect all of Liechtenstein’s top athletes to be in Malbun on both days, with the exception of Marco Büchel, who will be at the World Ski Championships in Val d’Isère, which begin on Monday. This makes it the best-staffed event on this year’s calendar of the Liechtenstein Ski Association (LSV).

On both days, the races begin at 9 a.m. with the women’s slalom. The men’s first run follows immediately afterward, before the women’s second run and then the men’s are scheduled for around 12:30 p.m. The award ceremonies will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the finish area at the Malbun valley station.

Alongside the strong field of competitors, including Martina Nigg, Tina Weirather (both with World Cup experience), Nicolas Schäfer and Simon Heeb, the organizers are attracting spectators with Malbun’s spectator-friendly conditions. The finish area is easy to reach on foot, and numerous spots along the slalom course on the Hochegg piste offer an excellent view of the action. Konrad Schädler, chief organizer of the ski event, promises spectators that they certainly won’t regret coming to Malbun.
