At the World Snow Festival in Grindelwald, several artists from around the world will showcase their skills over six consecutive days, creating small and large works of art from blocks of ice. The ice sculptures can then be viewed in a compact exhibition. The highlight of the World Snow Festival in the Bernese Alps is the announcement of the winning ice sculpture at the end of the event in Grindelwald. The icy works of art are judged independently by both a jury and visitors and tourists, to determine the winner.

History of the World Snow Festival
The first World Snow Festival was held in Grindelwald in 1983. At the time, the event was limited to building an oversized statue of Heidi, created by several ice artists from Japan. Over the following years, the World Snow Festival in Grindelwald gradually grew in scope, and today the event is one of the best-known in the Bernese Alps. More information about the World Snow Festival and other events in Grindelwald and the Bernese Alps is also available on the ski resort’s website.
