Wildkogel toboggan run expects record numbers of visitors

Opened in the 2004/05 winter season, the toboggan run on the Wildkogel in Austria has grown exponentially over the last four years. From an initial 5,000 visitors in its first season, interest has risen to 70,000 tobogganers a year most recently. This season, Wildkogelbahnen AG expects as many as 80,000 tobogganers, which would also set a new visitor record.

The Wildkogel toboggan run in the Oberpinzgau, near Hohe Tauern National Park, is fully illuminated and runs downhill from Neukirchen to Bramberg. A perfect addition to a family holiday in Bramberg. Over a distance of 14 kilometres, it descends 1,300 metres, making the Wildkogel the longest illuminated toboggan run in the world. With a maximum gradient of 9% and a moderate average speed, the Wildkogel toboggan run is particularly suitable for families with children. The Wildkogel toboggan run is open daily until 10 p.m.

30–45 minutes of tobogganing

Depending on your riding style, a run down the Wildkogel toboggan run takes between 30 and 45 minutes. The gondola ride costs 6 euros for adults and half that for children. However, Hans-Peter Kreidl, event manager at Wildkogelbahnen AG, points out that tobogganing is already included in the ski pass or day ticket. No fewer than five mountain huts along the Wildkogel toboggan run provide refreshments and invite visitors to take a break.
