Powder Snow at the Kitzsteinhorn for a Snowboard Event
The Kitzsteinhorn in the Salzburg region offers wonderful powder snow and breathtaking views across seemingly endless mountain peaks. You can enjoy powder snow here as early as autumn, and the slopes are covered in spring snow well into spring. The Salzburg region’s only glacier ski area offers perfect natural snow in winter, as well as an unparalleled variety of wonderfully diverse slopes. Everything is here to get winter sports enthusiasts’ hearts racing—from wide slopes for leisurely skiers to steep runs for an adrenaline rush.

The wild romance of the high mountains also draws snowboarders to the glacier, which rises above 3,000 m. The Kitzsteinhorn is a paradise for freeskiers and snowboarders. Where else can you find three first-class snowparks at a snow-sure altitude of 2,500 to 2,900 m? With more than 70 obstacles, it’s an absolute snowboard mecca.
From December 12 to 14, the Glacier Park will also welcome female snowboarding stars to the Kitzsteinhorn. They’ll compete in the Roxy Chicken Jam slopestyle event. The main session on December 13 will feature 25 invited snowboarders and the five best riders from Friday’s qualifying round.
The Roxy Chicken Jam gives the girls plenty of freedom and room for creativity. They have a set time limit, during which they can make as many runs as they like on the rails and kickers. That means daring tricks don’t have to come off perfectly on the first try, as the judges count only each rider’s best runs.
The party will then get underway on Saturday, December 13, at around 10 p.m. For some, it probably won’t end until dawn.
