Snow conditions remain good in the Sauerland

Very good snow conditions can be expected at the winter sports resorts in the Sauerland over the coming weekend and for some time beyond. A snow depth of 65 cm has been measured on Kahler Asten in Winterberg, and conditions are similar in the neighboring ski regions of the Sauerland, according to the responsible weather stations.

Although the sun has been letting skiers, cross-country skiers and sledders in the Sauerland down a little in recent weeks, with only just under half the sunshine hours usual for this time of year, the winter weather can still be described as comparatively pleasant. Further improvement is expected here over the weekend in particular, with some sunny spells forecast around Winterberg. Daytime temperatures are expected to be slightly above freezing, falling below freezing at night, so the snow cover should remain stable.

With nature and the weather already on their side, those responsible for the Sauerland's winter sports areas also want to do their part to ensure visitors can enjoy the snow without a worry. As of now, 70 sledding and ski lifts are operating in the Sauerland, and nearly 200 kilometers of cross-country trails have been groomed for fans of Nordic skiing. After the Alps, the Sauerland is one of Germany's most popular and snow-reliable ski regions.
