Alpbach Valley offers an award-winning ski holiday

The municipality of Alpbach lies at the foot of the 1,898 m-high Gratlspitz in the upper Alpbach Valley, in the Kufstein district. The mighty Galtenberg, Weißenberger Horn and Rofan Mountains surround the small valley with a fascinating mountain panorama. The 2,127 m-high Wiedersberger Horn is a very popular ski area in the Alpbach Valley. The highest lift station is at an altitude of 2,025 m. The ski area in the Alpbach Valley is small but exceptional.

This is reflected in its award as the best of the small ski areas. The little Alpbach Valley has received two awards: one for the quality of its ski area and another for its welcoming atmosphere. Here, the ski area’s outstanding quality matters more than the number of kilometres of pistes.

The jury included journalists, tourism and sports experts, as well as representatives of the cable car associations. More than 200 ski areas across the five Alpine countries were assessed. The impeccably groomed 80 kilometres of pistes for all ability levels ultimately clinched the win.

The excellent range of activities for kids on a ski holiday and the modern lift facilities ultimately secured the top rating. Sweden’s largest ski magazine, Åka Skidor, also awarded first place to the Alpbach Valley. “Charming ski resorts” was the Swedish category. In Sweden, the idyllic Alpbach Valley even beat international competitors. The ski area’s family-friendly atmosphere and the charming architecture of its wooden houses impressed the Swedish jury.

The wooden houses and farmsteads, lavishly decorated with flowers, lend the picturesque ski area plenty of charm. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy wonderful pistes and wide-open slopes in the little Alpbach Valley. Cosy mountain huts serve delicious food to skiers of all ages. Prices are also quite reasonable.
