Children laugh too on a ski holiday in Lachtal

For many skiers in the 1980s, Austria’s Lachtal ski resort was the best ski area of all, thanks in part to its many top-level sporting events. Today, the resort in Styria is more of a hidden gem. But now the appeal of this skiing paradise is being refreshed.

That’s not just because Frau Holle has laid her glittering blanket of fresh snow over Lachtal particularly early. And indeed, the season is scheduled to start on November 15. That’s sure to get skiers’ hearts racing. The season opening is due to be celebrated from Friday, December 5 to Monday, December 8, 2008.

Lachtal ski resort is set to become a pioneer when it comes to snow reliability. More than 2 million euros have been invested in snowmaking facilities. In future, over 40 hectares of slopes will be covered with snow automatically in no time at all.

It really is a special ski resort. After all, just 7 lifts give access to a vast 140-hectare ski region for skiers of every ability. The slopes reach an altitude of up to 2,222 m. Beginners will also find a perfect ski area in Lachtal, with gentle slopes that are ideal for learning.

The resort is also conveniently located. Graz is only about an hour’s drive away, and Vienna is around two and a half hours away by car.

The resort is also very family-friendly. Children are a top priority here—and, of course, so is having fun. Colorful courses with great figures invite them to play. The fun is also guaranteed on the wave run, treasure hunt, magic carpet, snow channel and magic carpet.

Parents have reason to be happy too: children up to the age of 6 ride the ski lifts for free. Prices for a ski holiday in Lachtal are already very reasonable. The hotels and restaurants also have plenty to offer for après-ski. All in all, a ski holiday here is a real treat.
