Tyrolean Ski Ace Plans Ski Connection in California
A ski champion from Tyrol is planning a ski connection around the Californian ski resort of Squaw Valley. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger enthusiastically supports the project at Lake Tahoe. He personally welcomed the two Tyroleans, Franz Weber and Jack Falkner.
Franz Weber lives in the United States and is well acquainted with Arnold Schwarzenegger. He presented his plan to develop a first-class ski area between California and Nevada. A ski connection modeled on the Arlberg is intended to enhance the Lake Tahoe ski area.

The best American and European ideas are to be brought to life in this project. The Lake Tahoe ski area is intended to become one of the three best ski areas in the world. The breathtaking landscape is only about a two-hour drive from San Francisco.
To realize his plans, Franz Weber promptly bought the ski resort of Alpine Meadows. He will also soon acquire nearby Homewood with the support of private investors. The planned ski connection, modeled on the Arlberg, will later link Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Squaw Valley, and White Wolf. Together, these ski areas are about the size of Austria’s Arlberg region.
In addition to the ski connection, infrastructure investments are also planned. Underground parking garages, hotels, and more shops and shopping streets are to be built in the ski resorts. A true ski paradise is therefore likely to take shape in the ski area at Lake Tahoe, with plenty to offer in summer as well. Golf and ski holidays promise wonderful vacation experiences. The area will be of interest to 80 million people who live nearby.
Hardly anyone really thinks of a ski holiday in connection with California. But that is about to change. This ski area is surely of interest to Europeans, too.
