St. Johann’s Dumpling Festival in the Tyrolean Ski Resort
The 300-metre-long dumpling table in the ski holiday paradise of St. Johann is said to be the longest in the world. On 20 September, the dumpling festival will once again draw visitors to St. Johann. Around 25,000 dumplings in 22 varieties will be served by 17 local restaurateurs. The festivities kick off at 1 p.m. with the restaurateurs’ procession. Guests will then be entertained with live music until 10 p.m.—and, of course, can enjoy delicious dumpling specialities.
St. Johann’s ski resort will soon be opening its slopes again. Until the snowy winter landscape draws skiers back, hikers can explore the magnificent scenery. The St. Johann ski region offers ideal trails for young and old alike, from leisurely walks to more challenging routes. There’s something for everyone.

Guided hikes led by certified mountain guides are also available. They are free of charge for participants, apart from lift and transfer costs. Suitable clothing and equipment are, of course, essential.
Until the ski season begins, St. Johann also offers plenty of other sporting adventures. Take the twin summer toboggan run, for example: hop aboard, race down into the valley and control your own speed. It’s great fun for the whole family.
Or float weightlessly through the air on a tandem paragliding flight, taking in breathtaking views of the beautiful mountain scenery. No previous experience is needed. Some pilots put on spectacular displays.
Hot-air balloon rides also offer a taste of this boundless freedom above the Tyrolean mountains. For an even bigger adrenaline rush, try a tandem skydive at around 200 km/h.
Others are drawn to the water, perhaps for canoeing, river rafting or white-water rafting. Powerful waves deliver pure action.
Canyoning is another way to discover the impressive local flora and fauna. Or explore on horseback—after all, they say happiness on earth lies on the back of a horse. St. Johann’s riding stables are well equipped. There are plenty of sports to help you stay in shape until the next ski and snowboard season.
