Experience the natural beauty of the Alpbachtal on a summer or ski holiday
The Alpbachtal lies at the foot of the 1,898 m-high Gratlspitz peak, between the Zillertal and Kitzbühel Alps. The ski resort village of Alpbach was named Austria’s most beautiful village, as well as Europe’s most beautiful flower village. The picturesque villages of Reith and Wildschönau also draw many holidaymakers to the Alpbachtal. Flower-adorned houses and farmsteads shape its idyllic character. It’s easy to feel at home here on holiday. The spectacular mountain scenery has even attracted television crews filming TV series.

A holiday in the Alpbachtal means immersing yourself in nature—not only during the popular winter ski season. The Alpbachtal’s nine holiday resorts have more to offer than a perfect setting for winter sports. The mountains and lakes make for a wonderful holiday experience in every season.
The family-friendly Alpbachtal also offers plenty of activities for a summer holiday. There are 14 signposted mountain biking routes and three running trails for beginners and experts alike. Take a longer bike ride to the Farmkehralm, for example, or enjoy a leisurely stroll through the beautiful ski resort area. On a hike from Sonnwendjoch to Lake Zireiner, you may come across marmots—or spot the rare edelweiss.
The beautiful landscape is perfect for relaxing or getting active, depending on what you’re looking for in a holiday. There’s something for everyone here in summer, too. More than 900 waymarked hiking trails wind through the fascinating mountain landscape. The popular Reither Kogel family mountain offers breathtaking views of the Alpbachtal, while the Rofan Mountains attract many mountaineers.
Five lovely swimming lakes invite everyone to take a dip: Lake Berglstein, Lake Reither and the natural swimming lake Badl Breitenbach are just a few. Lake Krummsee is considered the warmest swimming lake in Tyrol. Lake Reintalersee is probably the largest of the Alpbachtal’s swimming lakes.
A special highlight is the sunrise rides on the Sonnwendjochbahn cable car. For example, they run from around 6 a.m. on July 12/13, August 9/10 and September 13/14, 2008. This unique natural spectacle is not to be missed. For information by phone, call +43 (0)5337 62563.
