Karwendel Skiing and Summer Highlights
The Karwendel ski area, popular with winter sports enthusiasts, has plenty of summer highlights to offer. For example, there is a guided alpine pasture hike on June 14. Mild June temperatures turn the mountain slopes a vivid red with blooming alpine roses. This enchanting sight is part of summer in the Karwendel.

The fascinating landscape was voted the most popular hiking region, ahead of Saxon Switzerland, the Allgäu and the Black Forest.
Enjoy music and regional treats as the sun sets over the magnificent Karwendel. The torch-lit hike afterward is not to be missed either.
A week later, the “burning” mountain peaks draw visitors to the Karwendel range. Numerous mountain bonfires transform the landscape. The traditional solstice festival celebrates the transition from spring to summer in the mountains.
But the well-known Karwendel ski area has even more to offer. For example, a new geological trail opened in May 2008. It runs along the Georg Tiefenbrunner Trail between Latschaneck and the Laintal Gorge.
The Silberregion Karwendel is especially well suited to family holidays. According to the organizers, guided hikes are offered free of charge. While parents explore the beautiful countryside, children are also looked after free of charge. Activities include campfires with bread baking and Indian games, making eagle and Indian decorations, and pony rides.
Teenagers are more drawn to canyoning and paragliding, naturally at attractive rates and with qualified supervision. Young and old alike enjoy the outdoor swimming pools and the Weißlahn recreation center with its bathing lake. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, there are plenty of other places to visit, such as Stratzberg Castle, which offers special tours for children, or the planetarium and Schwaz silver mine.
