Mountain Summer in the Zillertal Ski Paradise
The Tyrolean Zillertal ski paradise, between the Tux and Kitzbühel Alps, is world-famous. Its beautiful mountain landscape, with alpine meadows, waterfalls and forests, has retained its traditional rural charm. Cross-country skiers will find wonderful trails in the Schönach and Wildgerlos valleys. Gerlos also offers ideal slopes for beginners in alpine skiing and for snowboarders. There’s also an attractive après-ski scene. The ski area is compact—ideal for holidaymakers who find the Zillertal Arena too large.
The Zillertal is also famous for its music. Music groups perform at many festivals. The next “Open Valley Days” event is just around the corner. Over two days, from May 31 to June 1, the Zillertal welcomes the mountain summer.

Many spectacular highlights offer interesting attractions, often free of charge. You can request vouchers here, for example for free rides on the Zittertalbahn, Penkenbahn, Gerlossteinbahn and Spieljochbahn, as well as free admission to the outdoor pool and museum, and much more.
On Saturday, June 21, the Rosenalm invites visitors to celebrate the summer solstice at an elevation of 1,744 m, with a magnificent mountain backdrop and breathtaking panoramic views. On June 27, the Latschenalm hosts its “Night of Fire,” featuring a mountain bonfire. The theme is music on the mountain, with a brass band, traditional Schuhplattler dancers and Duo Montana. Guests can enjoy hearty local specialties at a traditional mountain hut evening. The Isskogelbahn starts running uphill at around 6 pm. A torchlit hike to the Isskogel summit station at around 10 pm brings the festivities to a spectacular close, followed by the ride back down.
The Zillertal promises plenty of variety. In summer, too, you can enjoy the stunning scenery on hikes or take part in sporting activities such as horse riding and mountain biking. There’s so much to discover, including the nature park, waterfalls and glaciers.
