Paragliding in Ski Paradise Wattens
The popular Tyrolean ski and snowboard area of Wattens is only about 12 km from Innsbruck. It is surrounded by beautiful, almost untouched nature. The Glunzeger ski area offers 22 km of well-groomed slopes at elevations from 950 m to over 2,300 m. Skiing and snowboarding are possible well into late spring. In winter, you can also enjoy wonderful ski tours here. At over 15 km long, the Glunzeger slope is considered the longest in Tyrol. Ski Paradise Hall Wattens is surrounded by the Karwendel Mountains and the Tux Prealps.
At the end of May, ski and snowboard paradise Wattens invites you to go paragliding. The national and international elite of paragliding will take off from May 30 to June 1 for the 19th International Alpine Open. Around 200 paragliders and hang gliders are expected. Spectators can look forward to an exciting, colorful aerial spectacle. Up to 200 paragliders and hang gliders at once will turn the sky into a sea of colors.

Date: 30/09/2026
From May 30 to June 1, the expert flyers will take part in 3 competition rounds. This gives spectators the chance to witness the fascinating spectacle up close: paragliding and hang gliding against a breathtaking mountain backdrop.
This year's motto for the International Alpine Open is: „In the realm of the eagle – flying the Eagle Trail“. The Eagle Trail is considered Tyrol's most famous hiking trail. The aerial acrobats face a challenging task. They must fly along sections of the Eagle Trail that can cover as much as 150 km per competition round.
Takeoffs are scheduled daily at around 1 p.m. from Hinterhornalm, and at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Depending on the route and weather, landings will take place from around 3:30 p.m. at the St. Martin landing site in Gnadenwald. Visitors will also be treated to an entertaining family and party program, including a flight simulator, a climbing castle, an aerobatic glider show, other highlights, and, of course, a suitably celebratory after-flight party.
