Zauchensee attracts ski holidaymakers until mid-April

Most ski resorts have already closed, but Zauchensee will continue partial operations until 13 April 2008: the Gamskogel, Pumuckl practice lift and children's area, Rosskopf, Seekarlift, Schwarzwandbahn and Tauernkar will open as needed.

The Zauchensee ski paradise, at an altitude of 1,340 to 2,200 metres, is known as both a ski resort and a World Cup venue. The charming mountain village lies beside Lake Zauchensee. It is easy to reach via the Tauern motorway and is about 70 km from Salzburg. Wide, sunny ski runs, exciting FIS downhill runs, gentle meadow slopes and fast-paced pistes alternate. The après-ski scene is lively here too. Perfect conditions and plenty of snow make for an unforgettable ski holiday!

Zauchensee is one of the five winter sports regions of Ski Amadé, with 860 kilometres of pistes and 270 lift facilities. It is easily accessible via the ski circuit from Flachau, Kleinarl and Winkl. Well-maintained pistes for all ability levels await ski holidaymakers in the deep-snow paradise of Zauchensee, which offers plenty of sunshine as well as plenty of snow. Snow depths of 2 m are not uncommon well into spring. Tempting, deep-snow powder slopes draw many winter sports enthusiasts. Guided ski tours through the untouched winter landscape are another special highlight.

Snowboarders and freestylers are also drawn to Zauchensee. The boarder park features a halfpipe, quarterpipe, funbox, boardercross and freeride courses, among other attractions, giving snowboarders and freeriders plenty to enjoy.

Zauchensee is considered the highest ski resort in the Salzburg region. Its high altitude also provides ideal training conditions for international winter sports athletes. Many promising young winter sports talents are “forged” in Zauchensee.
