Hintertux Ski and Snowboard Paradise

The Hintertux Glacier borders the Zillertal in Tyrol. Probably Austria’s only year-round ski area has many highlights to offer. The sun terrace alone, at an altitude of over 3,000 m, offers breathtaking 360° panoramic views. The magnificent, expansive powder-snow slopes attract many ski holidaymakers. The particularly daring also take on the Harakiri run. But this descent is suitable only for true experts.

Freeriders are drawn to the powder-snow paradise of Eggalm, with its challenging slopes. Snowboarders, too, can hardly wait for the Betterpark to reopen. The Betterpark Spring Opening at the Olperer T-bar lift is scheduled to start on April 12, 2008. The newly shaped Hintertux Betterpark will then show off its new look. Soon, freestylers will be able to take to the air here again—in over 3,000 meters of altitude! The superpipe is 5 m high. Snowboarders and freeskiers can let loose here again and train throughout the summer.

When other ski areas have long since closed, the Hintertux Glacier still has its snow paradise open. 365 days a year! Many slopes are still open for skiing in spring, too.

Many events also get underway at the Hintertux Glacier in spring. Scottish Highland Games and Tyrolean folk music will be featured at the Tux Spring Festival. The “Flower Powder Week” starts on April 25 and runs until May 1.
