Headlamps, touring skis and climbing skins help the racers complete the 42 km ski marathon. Each team consists of 2 participants. The exciting race is extremely demanding and unique in the world. It crosses 4 Dolomite passes: Campolongo, Gardena, Pordoi and Sella. The ski resorts of Cianacei, Rèba and Selva are also on the Sellaronda race route. And, of course, so is the fascinating Dolomite landscape.
Alta Badia is a dreamily beautiful ski resort in its own right. It is surrounded by the majestic three-thousand-metre peaks of the Dolomites, including Sassongher, La Varella and the Sella massif, with its 3,151 m-high Piz Boè. This romantic snow-covered landscape is truly impressive. Around 130 kilometres of slopes attract skiers of all ability levels. Gentle ski terrain also offers easy runs for families, set among the imposing giants.
Equally impressive is the exceptionally warm and welcoming nature of the people of Alta Badia. It is also remarkable that this idyllic mountain region has developed into a successful tourist destination without disturbing its natural beauty. It is no coincidence that Alta Badia is known as the heart of the Dolomites. This ski paradise also has a big heart for children and is family-friendly.
But that is far from all that the Alta Badia ski resort has to offer. The excellent Ladin cuisine and the specialities served in its gourmet restaurants are sure to delight food lovers. Ski holidaymakers will be spoilt for choice.
