Skiercross Race in Oberndorf/Tyrol
A very exciting event kicks off in Tyrol on Saturday, 1 March 2008. A skiercross race will be held on the Penzinghang in Oberndorf. It is probably the only night-time skiercross race. This is the first time it has been held in Oberndorf. The steep turns on the challenging terrain of the Penzinghang are a major challenge—and promise pure excitement.
Although the terrain on the Penzinghang is very challenging, it does have one advantage: the course is almost entirely visible. That is sure to get the adrenaline pumping even more.

Date: 30/09/2026
Qualifying starts at 5 p.m. The floodlit final follows at 8 p.m. In keeping with the motto from 2001, “pure adrenaline” will be flowing during the skiercross race. Spectators will be on the edge of their seats as groups of four cross skiers compete on the obstacle course. They will then battle it out in a knockout system, with the two best from each round advancing all the way to the final.
In 2010, skiercross will become an Olympic discipline for the first time. Perhaps a cross skier from the Penzinghang will be the next Olympic champion.
The ski holiday paradise of Oberndorf lies at an altitude of 687 m between the Wilder Kaiser and the KitzbĂĽheler Horn, very close to St. Johann. But the jet set from neighbouring KitzbĂĽhel has yet to arrive. Oberndorf and St. Johann are ideal for family holidays. Both mountain villages are very welcoming and retain their traditional character.
There are wonderful family pistes. Cross-country skiers, snowboarders and carving skiers will also find superb runs. The 60 km of pistes for all ability levels are not overcrowded. The natural toboggan run is also very popular and is lit late into the night.
Many ski holidaymakers return to this ski area year after year. And it’s well worth discovering it anew.
