Powder Snow in Montafon
The Montafon ski region lies in the south of Austria’s Vorarlberg province, just about two and a half hours by car from Munich. It is a 39 km-long valley. To the north, it borders the Verwall range; to the south, the Silvretta and Rätikon ranges.
The Montafon ski region has an especially long season for ski holidays, running roughly from early December to the end of April. There is also plenty of snowfall, which draws many skiers to Montafon. Even so, there are few crowds and long waits. More than 60 mountain lifts can transport over 16,000 people per hour. This means you can relax and enjoy magnificent slopes and powder snow.

Skiers can look forward to 222 km of slopes, 62 mountain lifts and more than 200 km of cross-country trails. Skiers of all abilities will find a slope to suit them across the seven ski areas. And they can enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic 3,000-metre peak Piz Buin.
Silvretta Nova is probably the largest and perhaps the most beautiful ski area in Montafon. The Silvretta ski paradise is also among the best-connected ski areas in Austria. This varied ski area offers challenges on steep slopes and in deep snow, as well as powder-snow fun for experienced skiers and snowboarders. The popular Intersport Nova Snowboard Funpark also draws visitors with its many obstacles. Carving enthusiasts take to the sunny slopes, while beginners enjoy the gentle hills.
Montafon has six more ski areas: Bielerhöhe, Golm, Hochjoch, Kristberg, Schafberg and Warth-Schröcken. Silvretta Bielerhöhe is ideal for those seeking peace and snow-covered scenery. The Golm ski area, with its wide slopes, has its own appeal and is particularly well suited to family ski holidays. Kristberg, Schafberg and Warth-Schröcken are also suitable for families. More advanced skiers, too, can enjoy powder snow and unique panoramic views of 200 peaks.
