The 2006 and 2007 Air & Style winners from the USA will be there. Kevin Pearce and Travis Rice are taking on the challenge. Germany's David Benedek (best trick) and Christophe Schmidt (longest airtime) will also take part. So will snowboarding stars Maukus Keller (Switzerland), Antti Autti (Finland) and Mikkel Bang (Norway).
The snowboarders will meet in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the first week of March. But it's not just about the competition. It's also about friends getting together. Free from the pressure of competition, they'll test new tricks. The limits of snowboarding will be pushed back. Christophe Schmidt's airtime record (3.10 seconds) is set to be broken. Snowboarding at its finest. Many a jump will leave around 6,000 spectators in awe.
Not only are the tricks expected to be sensational, but the kicker's design (a snowboard jump ramp) is unique, too. Around 35,000 m3 of snow will be needed. The kicker will be about 20 m high, 50 m wide and 70 m long. This will allow for more than 3 seconds of airtime and jumps of up to 35 m. It will be a snowboarding highlight like no other.
