Carnival on a Ski Holiday
Skiing, snowboarding or cross-country skiing are all popular activities on a ski holiday. The Silberregion Karwendel in Tyrol is an ideal destination. It is family-friendly and appealing, and can be reached from Munich in about an hour by car.
The ski area on the high Kranzberg is a paradise for a ski holiday. With 21 km of slopes ranging from easy to challenging, there is something for beginners and experts alike. The little ones can also have fun in the children's park, with its magic carpet, ski carousel and more. A particular highlight is night skiing, offered twice a week under floodlights. There is also plenty of après-ski and fun at the mountain huts.

A ski holiday here can be full of variety, as the ski areas of Garmisch and Kühtai are easy to reach. The Stubai Glacier is also about an hour away.
But you can also make a ski holiday in the Karwendel region truly special. During carnival in Tyrol, it becomes a unique experience. The carnival parades in Schwaz, at the foot of the approximately 2,300 m-high Kellerjoch, are particularly interesting. Originally, these traditions were meant to drive away winter.
This custom has been repeated for hundreds of years. First, carnival is dug up, and at the end it is buried again. Witches, bears and other imaginative figures representing the seasons bring a colourful spectacle to the silver town of Schwaz.
But winter is far from over amid the magnificent Alpine panorama of the Karwendel. Dammkar is also well worth a visit; it is probably the first freeriding area in the German-speaking Alps. The 7 km route through unspoilt nature leaves nothing to be desired for skiers and snowboarders.
