Bodenmais lies in the Bavarian Forest on the southern slope of the 1,456 m-high Großer Arber. It is one of the most beautiful and snow-reliable areas in the Bavarian Forest. Cross-country skiers have reason to rejoice. The snow started falling early. The trails were actually supposed to wait until the timber had been hauled away by Christmas. But at the moment, the machinery can't cope with the snow in the steep terrain. So the trails are being groomed. Excellent conditions for cross-country skiing! It's sure to be a wonderful winter season.

Sports stars are also expected. For the first time, Bodenmais is an official partner of China's national biathlon team. Fans can watch during the Chinese training camp from 18.12.07 – 01.01.08. They might even pick up a professional tip or two to improve their own skills. The long cross-country trails are also very popular with the sport's elite. The Skadi Loppet is probably Europe's largest ski marathon. From March 14 to 16, 2,000 international competitors will vie for victory. The women's Ski World Cup slalom will also take place once again on the Großer Arber from 01.03.08 – 02.03.08.
The stunning landscape and the therapeutic climate of the spa town of Bodenmais provide an ideal wellness setting. The aim of the Wellness Academy in Bodenmais is to share practical wellness tips with visitors. Wellness hotels and other facilities have been assessed for their quality, with further inspections to follow. Bodenmais aims to become the first wellness destination in Germany to earn this distinction. A great deal is being done. Interesting events and sporting activities also attract younger winter sports enthusiasts to Bodenmais. The wonderful wellness offers are not to be missed either.
