Advent in Seefeld

The Seefeld region is popular for ski holidays. From late November until December 26, Seefeld in Tyrol turns romantic. The Advent market invites visitors to browse on Advent weekends. Here, you can escape the pre-Christmas rush. It is open Fridays to Sundays from 2 to 7 p.m. Forty Advent huts in traditional Tyrolean style invite visitors to linger. Christmas tree decorations, gingerbread and handicrafts are on offer. You can still find all kinds of gifts for the Christmas table here, or while strolling along Seefeld’s romantic pedestrian zone. While parents browse at their leisure, the little ones make their own gifts.

The scent of Advent and Christmas draws visitors in. The air is filled with the fragrance of fir trees, mulled wine and baked treats. Young and old alike have eyes that light up, especially when they see the enormous Advent calendar. It makes the wait for Christmas feel shorter. The most impatient can write and drop off their wish lists at the little angel post office.

The region, known for ski holidays, is a popular year-round destination. But at Christmas in particular, it offers an enchanting mountain idyll. Choirs sing Christmas carols from Tyrol. Seefeld’s carillon of 20 bells rings on the hour. At 5 p.m., weekdays become especially festive too, as all the Advent bells of the Olympiaregion Seefeld ring at the same time as the Peace Bell.

Impressive torchlit hikes take place at night in Scharnitz. The Leutasch Advent market is open on December 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. The same goes for Weidach and Pavillon. There is plenty to discover in Leutsch, Mösern, Reith and Scharnitz, too. It’s easy to get into the Christmas spirit here, surrounded by the snowy splendor of the ski area.
