A cosy autumn evening beside a romantic open fire quickly helps you forget the stresses of everyday life. Enjoying chestnuts with a glass of wine is a convivial autumn tradition in Tyrol known as Törggelen. The days grow shorter again, and lovers of old traditions turn their thoughts to Tyrol’s customs. In September, there is the Almabtrieb, the ceremonial drive of the cattle down from the alpine pastures, followed by Kirchtagsmichl in October and Krapfenbetteln in November. Traditional dishes from Tyrol’s farmhouse kitchens are part of the festivities. Autumnal impressions delight food lovers, and Tyrol’s cuisine has plenty to offer. Some six-course menus are even accompanied by romantic music. Cooking seminars are also available.
