Mountain Biking in the Portes du Soleil Ski Area

Portes du Soleil in France and Switzerland is a wonderful ski area. But Portes du Soleil is also an unforgettable destination for mountain bikers. Mountain biking in this ski area is hugely popular.

At an altitude of 1,000 to 2,400 m, Portes du Soleil does not have a bike park of the kind usually found elsewhere. The vast area is accessible to mountain bikers via 23 gondolas. There are natural singletrack trails, race routes for racers, and courses of every kind—everything you could want. A bike tour can be almost as exhilarating as a day on the slopes.

One mountain bike tour is better than the next, and the choices are nearly endless. The Portes du Soleil freeride area is considered the largest interconnected network in all of Europe. The border region near Lake Geneva offers endless options for downhillers and singletrack riders. The BIKERIDE mountain bike school can help you master the necessary riding techniques.

The trails in the Portes du Soleil area are hard to beat for mountain bikers. Morzine is the central starting point. From here, challenging trails lead to Morgins, Châtel and Les Gets. Surprisingly, the Portes du Soleil mountain bike area is barely known in Germany, even though it is ideal for riders of all skill levels. Everything is available, from easy trails to challenging downhill race tracks.

The mountain biking paradise is open from early June to October, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. A day pass costs 16 euros.
