Regenstein Jousting Tournaments
As is well known, you can enjoy an inexpensive ski holiday in the Harz. But summer also has plenty of adventures to offer. The Regenstein castle ruins near Blankenburg offer an exciting highlight on July 21 and 22, 2007. Every year, on the third weekend in July, knights on horseback traditionally gather for a tournament at the Regenstein Jousting Tournaments. Medieval festivities and jousting tournaments whisk visitors away on adventures from times gone by. The Saturday night tournament reaches its climax with a ride through flames and fire.

The Harz ski region is particularly family-friendly, as children can find their way around more quickly on the less crowded slopes and lifts. That does not mean your ski holiday will be spoiled by boring slopes: most runs are blue or red, but there are also a few black runs.
The Wurmberg, Braunlage and Ski-Centrum Hohegeiß ski areas are recommended for beginners and advanced skiers alike. Bocksberg in Hahnenklee offers wonderful slopes for young and old. Sonnenberg near St. Andreasberg has reliable snow cover well into spring. Matthias-Schmidt-Berg is a winter sports paradise for skiers and snowboarders, with its faster slopes and floodlit runs.
