There are new routes for Nordic walking fans to discover in Leysin. The picturesque village lies at an altitude of 1,200 to 2,000 metres on a sunny plateau in the Alps of the Lake Geneva region. Those who go Nordic walking here will find plenty to see in the Vaud Alps: traditional Swiss culture, history and nature. A special tip: at the revolving restaurant "Le Kuklos" at 2,048 metres above sea level, walkers can enjoy a breathtaking view of the world-famous mountains of Valais. Introductory Nordic walking courses are available in Leysin on request.
The Swiss Valais is already better known among Nordic walkers. However, the Swiss Nordic Parc has just opened in Zermatt. Five routes take Nordic walkers through the mountain landscape. The routes are also suitable for snowshoers. Tips for the more than 30 kilometres of trails: the „Rothorn Paradiese" and „Schwarzsee Paradiese" offer routes of all difficulty levels. All the new Nordic walking routes can be walked as one-way routes or circular trails. The Gornergrat route offers something special: a chip system lets Nordic walkers compare their walking times with those of elite athletes.
„Breathe more freely" is the motto of the Disentis-Sedrun holiday region, nestled in the mountains of Graubünden. A new Nordic walking park invites walkers to take a deep breath, with twelve trails covering a total of 16 kilometres. Three of the Disentis-Sedrun routes are also accessible in winter.
